In the evening, right in the centre of Gdańsk, in Długa street, you may notice an exceptional phenomenon. The only Window Theatre in Europe (Teatr w Oknie), established by the Gdańsk Shakespearean Theatre, has opened its window shutters in one of the tenement houses.

The modern Witold Gombrowicz Municipal Theatre in Gdynia took its name in 2000. Previously, during its forty-year-old history, it often changed its name and character. The Witold Gombrowicz Theatre is a lively, artistically effervescing place with a rich repertoire directed towards spectators who search in theatre both intellectual and aesthetic stimulation, as well as a brief respite from their tiring realities. The theatre is in regular cooperation with the Scena Jazz Café where outstanding jazz performances take place.

Teatr Leśny (The Forest Theatre) is a summer stage situated in a forest of Wszeszcz. The easiest way to get there is to go through an entrance from Jaśkowa Dolina Street. It is a place of numerous events, concerts and festivals that are organised here from May to September. This year’s inauguration is to be held on the 23rd of May. The last concert is planned for the 24th of August. The admission to the theatre is free.

Teatr Tarasy (The Terraces Theatre) is a new place of culture in Sopot. The stage, situated close to the Aquapark and the sea, is not only a place for theatre performances but also for jazz concerts or music soirées. A possibility to try wine from the actor Marek Kondrat’s Winiarium is to make the spectators’ contemplation of weekend performances and concerts even nicer.

The Summer Stage of the Witold Gombrowicz Municipal Theatre in Gdynia inaugurated its activity on a beach near the Orłowo pier in 1996. It is the only Polish theatre stage where spectators, sitting outdoors in the sand, may watch prepared performances accompanied by swoosh of the nearby surf. The Summer Stage is also a place of cabaret soirées, song recitals and other open-air events.

The Off de BICZ Stage of Sopot has been operating since October 2003. It has been established by an initiative of the Authorities of the City of Gdańsk. Teatr na Plaży (The Theatre on the Beach) in the Northern Baths (Łazienki Północne), just by the Grand Hotel, has been appointed as its seat.
