The hotel’s name has a history of its own. In English, Wolne Miasto means Free City and the name dates back to the interwar years of the last century, when the Treaty of Versailles granted Gdańsk the status of Free City under the protection of the League of Nations.

The fascinating Road to Freedom exhibition will give you a taste of the Eastern European atmosphere under communism and offer you an insight into the history of the system’s collapse.
