In August the Solidarity of Arts festival is due to take place in Gdańsk. It is the second time when, at the initiative of the Pomeranian Province Self-Government, the cultural institutions subordinate to the Marshall Office and the City of Gdansk, alongside the Polish Film Institute, are inviting prominent international and Polish artist to work together and share the fruit of work in the place so significant for Poland and Europe.

Robert Wilson’s outdoor spectacle is to commemorate the 30th anniversary of establishing Solidarity – the social movement, which changed the world. The show will take place in the Gdańsk Shipyard, where the movement originated from, and will be an outdoor theatrical installation with elements of a concert.

Every year Gdańsk changes into a capital of music videos. Yach Film: The Polish Music Video Festival is not only an annual music video celebration but also a meeting place for representatives of music labels, independent artists, Polish music stars and viewers interested in inter-media works of Poland and countries of the Baltic region.

A KuKu Sztuka Association, supported by the City Hall of Gdynia present an interdisciplinary artistic event entitled TRANSVIZUALIA. Festival of AudioVisual and Multimedia Forms, that inscribed itself into a group of innovative, international festivals. 

IN-OUT Festival will take place in Laznia for the fourth time. Just like last year, it will be open for the artists from all over the world. The Festival is supposed to select the most interesting video works which search for new formal solutions. The spectrum of interest is defined by the issues of non-narrative presentation of aesthetic problems, and conceptual attempts at posing questions about the nature of the image and its technologic layer. The Festival will be accompanied by special screenings. The prizes will be granted by an international Jury.

In 2005, Jean-Michel Jarre gave his performance in the Gdansk Shipyard during a concert commemorating the 25th anniversary of birth of „Solidarity”. That concert was seen live by 110 thousand spectators. The artist will visit Poland again this autumn.  On November  11, the Independence Day, he will give a concert in the Hala Gdańsk-Sopot. This will be the first concert given in the biggest and the most modern sport and entertainment arena in Poland.

The hall can accommodate 15 thousand people which is the largest number any hall in Poland can accommodate. It was then quite natural that the authorities of Gdansk and Sopot decided to bring here presently the most prominent pop music star, Lady Gaga. The concert is due to take place on Friday, November 26.

Jazz Jantar is an international festival with the participation of stars known all over the world. It presents both avant-garde and jazz roots and it has been organized by the well known ŻAK Club for years now. The club co-operates with numerous jazz and improvised music performers, widely understood youth contemporary music  which is often a combination of various genres.

The international Festival of Sacred Music has already been attended by great artists from all over the globe - symphony orchestras, choirs, and soloists.
