Amber has been associated with the Baltic region in a special way as its resources can be found here. What is more, there are also some historical connections seeing that before the war there was the West-Prussia Provincial Museum in Zielona Brama which possessed the greatest natural collection of amber in the world. However, mainly thanks to its present actions, Gdańsk has been considered to be the world capital of amber.

The Arch-cathedral St. Mary's Church, often called »the crown of Gdańsk«, astonishes us with its enormity. Its huge walls and towers can be seen high above the city and its surroundings. It was constructed over the years 1243 – 1502. The nave is 105 metre long. Its roof is covered with over 8 thousand square metres of red ceramic roofing tiles.

27 May 1983 'Dar Pomorza' (Gift of Pomerania), one of the best maintained ships in the world, started the new stage of its history as a museum- ship and became a monument and symbol of Polish marine traditions and pursuits.
It has been moored at a wharfside in the port of Gdańsk. Tourists start the journey inside the ship by watching a special exhibition telling the ship’s story and then by walking around the most interesting rooms. Visitors can see the midship (where the trainees used to live), engine room, sail storage, officer wardroom, the commander’s rooms, chart room, galley as well as the upper decks. Every year the Gift of Pomerania is visited by over 100 000 people.

Since many years our family has been sharing one passion – the passion for Volkswagen oldtimers. In the course of time we have set up a collection of over 30 iconic vehicles (classic VW Beetles, Hippie Vans, etc). With joint efforts and the help of other Oldtimer Friends, out of the once small collection, grew GALERIA PĘPOWO – the only Volkswagen Museum in Pomerania and the biggest one in Poland!

Westerplatte, a peninsula at an estuary of the Dead Vistula into the Bay of Gdańsk (northern Poland). Westerplatte was formed around the XV century as an island in consequence of excessive embedding of river sediments at an estuary of the Leniwka River. In the second half of the XIX century the island joined the land and formed a peninsula called Westerplatte. From 1 September 1939 the Polish forces (defenders) spent the whole week fighting fiercely against German aggressors that wanted to take control over this headland.

It is the oldest Arthus Court preserved in the world. Its name has originated from the legendary king of Celts, Arthur, living in Great Britain in the VI century. Initially, the knights’ meetings at the round table took place outdoors. They were often held in conquered countries with the intention of celebrating the victory of England.

In consequence of war actions, most of the granaries in Gdańsk were destroyed. The walls of three of them were preserved on Ołowianka Island and, after their reconstruction in 1985, they became the main exhibition area for the Polish Maritime Museum. The oldest one is the Gothic ''Oliwski'' granary which was called 'Klasztorny' (Closter) until 1677.

The oldest sources mentioning the Żuraw as wooden port crane equipment date from 1367. Its present look refers to the image of the middle of the 15th century. The first wooden crane totally burnt down as a result of the 1442 fire. A new crane was built in the years 1442-1444. The crane had a defence function. It consisted of two brick towers with a wooden lifting mechanism installed in between.
