Workshops of a shoemaker and a tanner, a tailor’s shop, a medieval bath house, a mint and a reconstructed Hanseatic Street, you can see all these things in the “Błękitny Lew” Archaeological Education Centre which is situated in the “Błękitny Baranek” Granary in 53 Chmielna Street and invites you to take a walk around the medieval Gdańsk.
In the Archaeological Education Centre visitors are welcomed by eighteen figures of former residents of Gdańsk which have been reconstructed on the basis of a few- year-long-examination of skeletons found under the market hall in Gdańsk. Medieval noises and scents add even more credibility to this place. Here you can listen to the carillon of church bells, jingle of tools and sounds of animals, this is also the place to smell untanned leather as well as dead fish.
The “Błękitny Baranek” Granary is composed of seven floors. Its total area is 2936 square metres. It is the only granary in Gdańsk with a wooden construction inside dating back to the 17th century.
The “Błękitny Lew” Archaeological Education Centre also organizes meetings and feasts with live history, educational classes or musketeer shows. The Education Centre has been the greatest museum investment of the Archaeological Museum since its establishment. Looking for a shopping centre? Visit Fashion House!
