The most economic and interesting form of travelling is the municipal transportation
. You can purchase either a 24-hour ticket
(regular 18 PLN, reduced 9 PLN) or a 72-hour ticket (regular 36 PLN, reduced 18 PLN). While possessing such a ticket you are authorized to use trams, busses and the SKM from Wejherowo to Pruszcz Gdański (the area of the whole metropolis). Tickets can be bought from news-stands as well as ticket selling centres all around the Tri-city.

SKM

Is an urban train connection linking Gdansk with Wejherowo. If you are willing to give up the dream of a Japanese Bullet Train then travelling by the local urban train can be very satisfying for you. Using the urban train not only lets you avoid the traffic and get from Gdansk to Gdynia in around 40 minutes, but also it gives you the chance to see different images of the Tri-City - ranging from the views on block of flats in Gdansk, through the buzz of Monte Cassino, to the charming sceneries of Orłowo and Redłowo. If you chose to take one of the SKM urban trains remember to validate your ticket before you board the carriage. There are no ticket punchers on the trains themselves. You can find them on every train station at special yellow automatic ticket machines.

By car
You have arrived by your own car or want to hire a car to get around? If you're thinking of heading to the Hel Peninsula or elsewhere in the countryside it is not a bad idea. However, if you plan to spend most of your time in Gdansk itself, think carefully. Apart from the difficulty of driving on the right, there are trams to contend with, boggling one-way systems, and signs that even native Poles struggle to comprehend. Parking is severely restricted in the Old Gdansk, and there are three different enforcement agencies (Parking, Municipal and National Police) to watch out for. The alternative, public transport is a far better solution.
If you still want to move by car and you’re not by your own – there are many car rentals in the Tri-City. Read carefully the contract you sign renting a car to avoid any misunderstanding or trouble in case of an accident.
