The Grodzisko post-fort complex is situated on a hill 50 m above the sea level, located in the city centre, not far away from the railway and buss stations. The Grodzisko complex is composed of historic defence constructions, a park as well as an educational and recreational complex - Hewelianum.

At present the area of the Grodzisko fort is administered by a municipal unit which has been established particularly for this purpose: The Culture Park of Urban Fortifications - Gdańsk Fort (Park Kulturowy Fortyfikacji Miejskich Twierdza Gdańsk). The latest programme of the Culture Park is Hewelianum , an idea to establish an educational and recreational complex for children, teenagers and the whole families on the area of the Grodzisko Fort.
